This year we received funding that has given us the opportunity to enhance our leveled library (commonly know by parents and students as baggy books). It has provided books that more accurately help our students practice the skills they are learning. With this we have books that are no longer needed and we are giving them to our students to take home and enjoy indefinitely. We wanted to make you aware that your student(s) will be bringing these books home over the course of the next couple of weeks.

“We appreciate our teachers and staff at Iron Springs Elementary. Help us show all of them some love. Sign up to donate a gift today!”- Irons Springs Elementary PTA.

Iron Springs Elementary 5th graders had the opportunity to attend a science field trip to the District Water Fair. The Water Fair is an educational event for 5th graders, sponsored by the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District and the USU Extension Service. Students had the opportunity to cycle through various education stations, learning about water related topics along the way. Some topics of the stations were water conservancy, irrigation, fun facts about water and the ecosystem, the water cycle, and how we can protect our water supply and minimize pollutants.

Iron Springs Elementary Level 2 class always looks forward to their trip to Thunder Junction in the spring. All four Level 2 classes in Iron County meet together down in St. George. The students had so much fun being able to use the adaptive equipment. The slides, the swings, ride ons, etc. This year was extra special because it was a student's birthday. The culminating event was the train ride!

First graders have been studying about the plant life cycle in science. They shared what they have learned about plants with their program “How Does Your Garden Groove?” The fun catchy songs and silly puns in the program really brought these plants to life. Two favorite songs included “The Hot Potato” and “Please Don’t Put Me in a Can Can.” From our dancing veggies, to our cool shades hot peppers, the kids had a great time singing their way through the garden.

A fantastic Day was had by all at Iron Springs Elementary on Monday while celebrating Read Across America. We had special visitors from Dr Seuss books including Thing 1, Thing 2, and the Cat in the Hat!! Our visitors loved reading books to each grade level and joining them for a Seusstastical Lunch. It was a day full of fun! What a wonderful way to share the magic of reading!
